Sample scenario when to use this option: You are teaching Geometry and most students are at or near grade level.
Pros:
- All students are enrolled in the same ALEKS course.
- After the initial knowledge check, a teacher can readily identify any outliers, such as a student needing intervention or a student who can move more quickly through the content.
- Assignment features can be used to create whole class pre-tests, assessments, exit tickets.
Cons:
- As long as a large percentage of the students are at grade level, there are no negatives.
ALEKS can be a stand-alone curriculum. Teachers may wish to include activities such as:
Inside Mathematics’ “Problem of the Month” and “Performance Assessment Tasks”
Illustrative Mathematics‘ Content Tasks.
