{"id":122,"date":"2015-07-19T16:33:32","date_gmt":"2015-07-19T16:33:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.edtech4aleks.com\/?page_id=122"},"modified":"2016-06-03T16:28:52","modified_gmt":"2016-06-03T16:28:52","slug":"guiding-principles-for-successful-math-intervention","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.edtech4aleks.com\/?page_id=122","title":{"rendered":"Susette&#8217;s Guiding Principles for Successful Math Intervention"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Susette&#8217;s Guiding Principles for Successful Math Intervention<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Students who are considerably behind grade level in math will make the most growth in math if:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Dedicated,<\/strong> <strong>specific<\/strong>, <strong>intentional<\/strong>, and <strong>individualized<\/strong> math instruction for intervention is provided,<\/li>\n<li>Instruction for<strong> math intervention is given time<\/strong> beyond a student\u2019s grade-level content instruction,<\/li>\n<li>Students receive instruction in <strong>grade-level content<\/strong>,<\/li>\n<li><strong>Everyone is held accountable<\/strong> for successfully performing their duties related to the task of providing activities and instruction that will enable students to successfully master math content at their grade level, as soon as possible.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Dedicated: <\/strong>Everyone, which includes, students, parents, teachers, staff, and administrators are devoted to the single task of providing activities and instruction that will enable students to successfully master math content at their grade level as soon as possible.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Specific:<\/strong> Intervention content includes core foundational topics, number fluency, and problem solving.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Intentional:<\/strong> The math instruction for intervention is planned and purposeful.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Individualized:<\/strong> The ALEKS learning system is used for a minimum of 100 minutes per week to individualize practice and assessment by providing adaptive questioning and intelligent selection of topics that students are most ready to learn. (Note: Other technologies are available but they will not have the advantage of the &#8220;Ready-to-Learn&#8221; topics.)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Math intervention is given time:<\/strong>\u00a0A separate, additional time must be scheduled for specific math intervention activities.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Grade-level Content:<\/strong> Students need to have the opportunity to learn grade-level content.
